Interactive jobs are mainly used for debugging purposes. Many times it is difficult to tell exactly where something is failing when a job doesn't run right off the bat. Interactive jobs provide a way for you to start a login session on an execution node and enter commands to be able to see not only what happens but to interactive query the execution environment encounter by the job when running in batch mode.
