JRT to provide PBS Professional services to Academic community

TROY, MI (June 3, 2008) – Altair announced today it will partner with James River Technical (JRT) to enhance its Academic Grant Program with professional sales and support for North American academic customers beginning in July 2008. When Altair launched the Academic Grant Program in 2002, it provided educational institutions with leading grid and cluster computing tool PBS Professional to Universities in North America and around the world. In order to provide a superior customer experience, JRT will now act as Altair’s preferred partner for the North American academic sector.

"James River Technical is pleased to be partnering with Altair in the Higher Education and Research space, " said Tom Mountcastle, president of JRT. "Our specialization in this market, where we are offering leading edge HPC solutions to speed time to discovery, is further complimented by Altair's robust suite of products. We have a very productive history with Altair, and in this new partnership we are looking forward to managing the transition of their current Academic Grant programs and extending the reach of their new offerings. Many of the universities and research facilities in North America are mutual clients, who are accustomed to our commitment to client service and we fully expect that level of support to continue."

“We launched the Academic Grant Program to encourage innovation in grid technologies, and we believe academic institutions will now realize the full power of PBS Professional with the combination of industry-leading technology and exceptional support,” said Michael Humphrey, vice president of enterprise computing, Altair. “JRT has an excellent reputation for providing and supporting high performance computing (HPC) solutions to the North American academic community and we are pleased to have them as our preferred partner.”

The US list price for PBS Professional is $13.50 per CPU-core/year (annual lease license) or $40.50 per CPU-core (perpetual license). Altair and JRT have also designed transition programs to assist qualified academic institutions in the shift to the new licensing models.
